Biographie
Née et élevée à New York, elle a commencé à se produire professionnellement dès son plus jeune âge au Metropolitan Opera. Parmi ses premiers rôles à l'écran, on compte Genius (1999), Songcatcher (2000), Passionada (2002) et Nola (2003). À seize ans, elle décroche son rôle décisif dans Mystic River (2003). Rossum a joué dans le film de science-fiction Le Jour d'après (2004) et a également été acclamée par la critique pour son interprétation du rôle principal de Christine Daaé dans l'adaptation cinématographique du Fantôme de l'Opéra (2004). Elle est également connue pour avoir joué dans les films Poséidon (2006), Dragonball : Evolution (2009), Inside (2011), Beautiful Creatures (2013), Comet (2014), You're Not You (2014) et Cold Pursuit (2019).
