Biographie
Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon (née le 22 mars 1976), mieux connue sous le nom de Reese Witherspoon, est une actrice et productrice de films américaine. Witherspoon décroche son premier rôle dans le rôle principal féminin dans le film The Man in the Moon en 1991; plus tard cette année-là, elle a fait ses débuts d'actrice à la télévision, dans le film câblé Wildflower. En 1996, Witherspoon est apparu dans Freeway et a suivi cette apparition avec des rôles dans trois grands films de 1998: Overnight Delivery, Pleasantville et Twilight. L'année suivante, Witherspoon est apparue dans l'élection acclamée par la critique, qui lui a valu une nomination aux Golden Globes. Home Alabama, qui est devenu son plus grand succès de film commercial à ce jour. 2003 a vu son retour en tant qu'actrice principale et productrice exécutive de Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde. En 2005, Witherspoon a reçu une attention et des éloges du monde entier pour son interprétation de June Carter Cash dans Walk the Line, qui lui a valu un Oscar, un Golden Globe, un BAFTA et un Screen Actors Guild Award de la meilleure actrice dans un rôle principal.
Witherspoon a épousé l'acteur et co-star de Cruel Intentions Ryan Phillippe en 1999; ils ont deux enfants, Ava et Deacon. Le couple s'est séparé fin 2006 et a divorcé en octobre 2007. Witherspoon possède une société de production, Type A Films, et elle est activement impliquée dans des organisations de défense des enfants et des femmes. Elle siège au conseil d'administration du Children's Defence Fund (CDF) et a été nommée ambassadrice mondiale d'Avon Products en 2007, en tant que présidente d'honneur de la fondation caritative Avon.
