Steven Andrew Soderbergh (né le 14 janvier 1963) est un réalisateur, producteur, scénariste, directeur de la photographie et monteur américain. Pionnier du cinéma indépendant moderne, Soderbergh s'est ensuite fait connaître pour ses films formellement inventifs réalisés dans le cadre du système des studios.
Le drame indépendant Sexe, mensonges et vidéo (1989), qui marque le tournant dans la carrière de réalisateur de Soderbergh, le propulse sous les feux de la rampe en tant que figure notable de l'industrie cinématographique. À 26 ans, Soderbergh devient le plus jeune réalisateur solo à remporter la Palme d'or au Festival de Cannes, et le film connaît un succès commercial mondial, ainsi que de nombreuses distinctions.
