Biographie
Elle a commencé sa carrière en apparaissant dans la série télévisée Get Real (1999) avant d'atteindre une renommée mondiale en tant qu'héroïne de son premier film, la comédie Disney Princesse malgré elle (2001). Elle a été saluée par la critique pour sa transition vers des rôles plus adultes dans les drames Jeux de gangs et Le Secret de Brokeback Mountain en 2005. Son statut de star s'est consolidé avec le succès commercial du Diable s'habille en Prada (2006), où elle a joué aux côtés de Meryl Streep, et elle a obtenu sa première nomination aux Oscars pour son rôle d'une femme en cure de désintoxication dans Rachel se marie (2008).
Depuis 2010, elle a joué dans plusieurs des plus grands succès au box-office de sa carrière, notamment les comédies romantiques Valentine's Day (2010) et Love, et autres drogues (2010), le film fantastique Alice au pays des merveilles (2010), ainsi que son rôle de Catwoman dans The Dark Knight Rises (2012). Ses films Interstellar (2014), Le Nouveau Stagiaire (2015), Ocean's 8 (2018), L'Idée d'être avec toi (2024) et le plus récent The Odyssey (2026) ont réaffirmé sa polyvalence dans l'industrie.
